New School of online gaming - Xbox Live
No online game platform can top Xbox Live. Only this makes the Xbox 360 more popular than all the other game consoles. Xbox Live was first released in 2002 and has only gone up in technology, interactivity, and style ever since. Xbox Live has a voice chat feature that allows people to interact with teammates and friends online in real time with a headset and microphone. Being able to communicate makes the gaming experience that much sweeter.
"Four months after its launch Xbox Live already had 350,000 users." That is a staggering number. It has only increased ever since. Users can even talk to each other through the dashboard even when they are not playing a game. Xbox Live only ups the ante when it comes to users interacting with each other. This was just when the original Xbox was in circulation.
When the Xbox 360 was released, the Xbox Live capabilities increased even more. The experience now included "the blade system, Silver and Gold accounts, the Marketplace, and the Gamer Card."
Nowadays, the Xbox Live platform is used just like the internet on a computer. Users can access the internet and even use Netflix on their Xbox Live system. "On January 6, 2009, Xbox Live reached 17 million users." That number has to be much higher now. Users can buy games on the Xbox Live Marketplace and play them without having the disc in the console. Soon, Xbox Live capable games will only be available in the Marketplace. That would make things much easier. Users would never have to leave their couch to buy an online game. With Halo and Call of Duty being so popular, Xbox Live will only keep growing as long as new games are being released. Everyone knows it will never die.
