The World of PC online Gaming
Games have been created and developed for many decades. The 1960s came with games being played on mainframe computers at colleges and universities. The 1970s is when it started to become more popular and more massed produced. The first video game console was called the Odyssey. It was released in 1972.
Many games designed in the early years were non-profit. This means that the designers never got paid for developing their games. They did it for the shear fun of seeing their college friends tell them how cool they are for creating a video game. It never really amounted to anything.
A computer baseball game came out in 1971 on a mainframe at Pomona College. It featured individual games and seasons that players could manage. Small games like this one started being released on university mainframes one by one. It is only fitting that college students and researchers developed the first games because today it is younger people who mostly play computer and online games.
Games during this time were being distributed through floppy disks. One player would send his game to a friend and that friend would save it to their own floppy disk, so on and so forth. This was the very first distribution of computer video games.
These days, World of Warcraft, or WOW as the players call it, dominates the PC online gaming network. It can be played on almost any PC. It was released in 2004 and has only grown ever since. More and more players sign up to play WOW all the time. No matter how many hours they log performing quests and battling other players, they still cannot wait to play again the next weekend or even the next day.
With technology ever developing, games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, and many others, will continue to develop and new chapters will still be released all the time. The developers never seem to run out of storyline ideas.
